Carmel Malbec Admon

2014
2013
Type of wine
Dry red
Varieties
100% Malbec
Growing region
Upper Galilee
Tasting notes
The wine displays a dark purplish hue, with complex aromas of plums, black raspberries and violets. This full-bodied wine possesses a rich and deep fruit flavor with a long well balanced finish.
Food pairing
The wine is an ideal companion for dishes such as a slow cooked lamb Osso Buco or goose confit.
Soil
The soil is reddish Terra Rossa and contains a high percentage of stone.
Vineyards
The vineyard is planted on a slope in the Admon Vineyard, approximately 770 meters above sea level, about a mile east of Moshav Dalton. The climate is cool throughout the year, and the region is also characterized by frequent wind and snow.
Wine production
The grapes were harvested at night and processed at the Kayoumi winery, located in close proximity to the Admon vineyard. Following fermentation and maceration with the grape skins to give an elegant flavor filled structure, the wine was aged in French oak barrels for 15 months.
Ageing
The wine was ready to drink immediately upon its release, but is expected to age up to a decade from vintage, if stored in suitable conditions.
Harvest
The fall and winter that preceded Vintage 2013 was of average temperature. Rainfall was higher than usual, although a warmer than usual spring brought about an early awakening in the vineyards.
The mild spring and summer temperatures, relative to recent years, made for superb quality grapes. The red wines display deep color and full fruit flavors.
